I have been fortunate enough to stay at Hotel Wentzl on 2 separate occasions – the most recent being this December for 5 nights. During this time the Christmas markets were in full swing and it was one of the most magical trips of my life! A tip for anyone booking this hotel is to reserve a room overlooking the main square – you could gaze out of the hotel room window for hours taking in the hustle and bustle and watching the different performances that would carry on throughout the afternoon.
Hotel Wentzl is a 4* hotel and is the only hotel situated on the main square in Krakow, it’s a luxurious 16th century building with glorious and ginormous rooms. Every moment I spend in this hotel is bliss, its pretty extravagant but I always feel comfortable there, the staff make you feel so special by providing such an outstanding service – they stand as you enter a room which makes me feel like a Princess! They’re so polite and can’t do enough for you.
What’s important to me when staying in a hotel is that its clean – nothing makes my stomach churn more than grim bed sheets and a grubby bathroom, and the location is best when I feel safe in the surroundings and its central.
These two factors were completely covered when I researched Hotel Wentzl – its smack bang in the middle of everything I needed, it was a safe and secure hotel that was surrounded by lovely coffee shops, restaurants and shops.
It’s roughly a 30 minute drive from the airport – if you call or email the hotel in advance they will arrange a private taxi to greet you and bring you straight to Hotel Wentzl. As I previously mentioned they are very helpful!
The room I stayed in (both times) has a great mini bar, a coffee maker with a variety of coffees (free), free WIFI, a huge bed and the bathroom was amazing! I love staying somewhere that has a nice bathroom – especially as when we stayed in December the weather was FREEZING! So to come back to the room and enjoy a hot bubble bath was HEAVEN! The room décor is my aesthetic to a T – it feels grand with heavy dark wood furniture and gold and green bed covers and upholstery, and the bathroom was newly decorated in floor to ceiling marble.
If you stay here (Which you all should!) I would strongly recommended having breakfast here as their scrabbled eggs with butter is the best you’ll ever have and their coffee shop that’s next door is 100% worth a visit too – my recommendations are the vanilla latte with the walnut cake – its what dreams are made of.
Hope this gives you something to add to your bucket lists – I for sure cant wait to visit again – it will forever be my favourite hotel!
